Thorpe Park unveils first-ever speak-to-scare zone: Purgatory Town
- Friday September 19th 2025
- Thorpe Park
Europe’s top theme park scare event, Fright Nights at Thorpe Park, is raising the bar for scares in 2025 with the launch of its first-ever speak-to-scare zone, ‘Purgatory Town’, where the seven deadly sins are brought terrifyingly to life. For the first time, visitors will be able to have conversations with the restless spirits that haunt the streets of the Park, experiencing live-action interactive encounters that are as chilling as they are unique.
Unlike the big jump scares that thrill and terrify in Thorpe Park’s iconic scare mazes, this new zone will delight and frighten nervous newbies as well as seasoned screamers.
Step onto the eerie streets of Big Easy Boulevard, where the living lock their doors at sundown, leaving the damned to wander freely. Here, visitors will encounter tormented souls known as the ‘sinners of Earth’ – restless figures trapped in eternal limbo, unable to move on.
Each sinister resident of Purgatory Town embodies one of the seven deadly sins, from the gluttonous Gravedigger, who feasts beyond reason, and Captain Wrecked, driven mad by greed, to the wrathful Little Dread, fuelled by fury, and the envy-ridden Boulevard Maggot, forever coveting what’s not theirs. With more twisted souls lurking in the shadows, waiting to be discovered, they’re dying to meet you.
Guests are invited to immerse themselves in this twisted town, where every alleyway holds a story of vice, torment, and unfinished business. Unsettling encounters, chilling character interactions, and the Park’s first-ever speak-to-scare experience make this zone as spine-tingling as it is unforgettable.
